Book Review: "Beware the Power of the Dark Side

You'll see a few of these type of posts, but this book is a retelling of the Star Wars movie, Return of the Jedi.

Beware the Power of the Dark Side is very accurate and dramatized, and it makes it feel like your witnessing the Battle of Endor and the Lightsaber battles on the Death Star. Author Tom Angleberger tells the story in detail and in a comedic way. Tom uses what my old writing teacher would call a Retina Burning Adjective to 'punch' the reader, and grabs their attention.

I love to get the Listening Library audio of this book, which is read by Marc Thompson.

My Pro's on it:

(1) Great storytelling

(2) Love the words added for action

(3) you can feel the characters feelings and emotions

(4) attention grabber

(5) no detail left un-described

My Con's on it:

(1) chapter names could be better (starts with 'In Which' on every chapter)

(2) uses words 'plod' and 'endless desert' a bit too much at the beginning (it may be overused as a funny relief, but I found it a bit irritating)

(3) too many chapters: pages in chapters too short (there are about 60 chapters)
