Character Spotlight: Anakin Skywalker
As you probably know, Anakin was born on a desert planet called Tatooine (sound familiar. . . Luke?) to Shmi Skywalker. (much has been debated about Anakin's father, and according to Sheev Palpatine, his Sith master Darth Plagueis had figured out how to manipulate the Force into creating life. Others say the Force fathered him) Anakin spent most of his boyhood as a slave for the infamous Watto, until Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn rescued him. But before Anakin could leave, he needed to win a podrace for Watto. The Force was with little Ani and he won. Anakin left with Qui-Gon and the young Obi-Wan Kenobi to Coruscant.
Padmé, 14 years old and the Queen of Naboo, meet Anakin on Tatooine with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. The first thing Anakin said to her was: "Are you an angel?" .
Young Skywalker trained under new Jedi Master, Obi-Wan, after the tragic death of Qui-Gon. Anakin was the most talented Jedi ever, and his Force abilities were unbelievably strong. Alas, but he was impatient and had a tough time controlling his anger and thoughts. He swore to Padmé Amidala, the love of his life, he would become the most powerful Jedi ever.
The Senator Palpatine (aka Darth Sidious) befriended Anakin and planted ideas in his mind. He convinced Anakin to turn to the Dark Side so he could save Padmé's life, who was expecting a child. Palpatine told Skywalker that training to be a Sith could give him the power to immortalize the people he loved.
Anakin wanted that more than anything, so he left the Jedi and the Order, rejected his training, and joined Palpatine, who revealed to Ani that he was the nefarious Sidious.
When Anakin became the Sith Lord, Darth Vader, he killed many Jedi. Much to Obi-Wan's disbelief, a holographic recording of Anakin showed the former padawan slaying the Jedi younglings.
Obi-Wan followed Padmé to a lava based planet called Mustafar so he could fin his old apprentice.
Anakin, convinced by Palpatine that Obi-Wan was an enemy, believed Kenobi turned his wife against him, he threw Padmé to the ground and fought Obi-Wan in one of the most epic lightsaber battles in the Star Wars world.
Obi-Wan managed to strike Darth Vader to the ground, and Anakin burst into flames. Kenobi, after a emotional battle of his own heart, left Anakin there to die.
Sidious rebuilt Vader's badly burned body with robotic parts and a suit of armor - and the horrifying appearance of Darth Vader was born! As soon as he was able, Vader asked about Padmé . Palpatine told his new apprentice that Vader killed her in his rage.
Vader used the Force in his grief and anger to tear the room apart, his new Master watching his tantrum in satisfaction. Palpatine wanted Vader to use that boiling anger to become stronger in the Dark Side of the Force.
Ever since, Vader used his grief of losing his beloved wife to power him on, and defeated Palpatine for his love of Padmé and his child, Luke Skywalker.
